Receive and reconcile

Receiving establishes what actually arrived. Compare the shipment with the purchase order and packing documentation, using item identifiers and quantities rather than appearance alone. Note damage and discrepancies through the approved process before items enter normal inventory. Keep uncertain or damaged goods in the designated status rather than making unsupported adjustments. A clear record helps purchasing, the supplier and warehouse staff resolve the issue without losing traceability.

Receive and reconcile

Your goal: Apply the lesson to a realistic situation and explain your decision.

Receiving records should reflect what arrived. Record the difference so the responsible team can resolve it.

Use the approved process to inspect, document and control damaged goods. Avoid unsupported disposal or stock release.

Item identifiers and documentation establish the match. Visual similarity alone may not distinguish products or versions.

The receiving record must stay accurate. A supplier request does not justify misrepresenting the actual delivery.

Assigning the next owner prevents discrepancies becoming hidden inventory problems. Follow the organization resolution process.
